Washing Machine Cost per Cycle Calculator

Calculate the electricity cost of a wash from the energy used by the programme, rather than assuming the maximum power is drawn throughout the cycle.

Choose your own country average or enter your bill’s unit price. Example inputs are editable, not measured averages.

A worked example

An illustrative 1 kWh wash at 0.25 per kWh costs 0.25. Twelve identical washes cost 3.00 in electricity. These figures exclude water, detergent and any separately supplied hot water.

All example prices are illustrative currency units, not live tariffs. Fixed charges are excluded.

Find the right energy input

Use a measured cycle reading or your model’s programme information. If a label gives kWh per 100 cycles, divide that number by 100. A label example of 50 kWh per 100 cycles becomes 0.5 kWh per cycle.

Get a useful estimate

Programme, temperature and load can change energy use. The selected days / sessions total can represent your number of washes. The daily, monthly and yearly tabs assume a cycle every day; do not use those projections for an occasional wash schedule.
