Air Conditioner Running Cost Calculator
Estimate cooling electricity cost using average electrical input power and operating hours, or measured energy for a representative day.
Open calculator with example inputs ↗Choose your own country average or enter your bill’s unit price. Example inputs are editable, not measured averages.
A worked example
An illustrative 1,000 W average electrical input for four hours uses 4 kWh. At 0.25 per kWh, that costs 1.00 per day or 30.00 for 30 identical days.
All example prices are illustrative currency units, not live tariffs. Fixed charges are excluded.
Find the right energy input
Use electrical input watts, not cooling capacity. If your label lists cooling output or BTU/h, do not enter that number as electrical input power. Measured kWh avoids having to infer average power.
Get a useful estimate
Cooling demand and cycling vary with the weather, settings and room. Keep active time at 100% when entering average power. A 365-day projection assumes the same daily use all year, which can overstate seasonal cooling costs.
